AMSTERDAM MEETS DIGITAL ART – AN ART EXHIBIT FROM DIGITAL ART AMSTERDAM

On Saturday November 18th, a diverse groups of people from around Amsterdam and the world gathered to celebrate and admire the digital artworks of Erwin Blaas. Erwin presents his digital artworks to the world under the name “DIGITAL ART AMSTERDAM”.

You may be wondering what exactly DIGITAL ART AMSTERDAM is?

“DIGITAL ART AMSTERDAM” was a name created to embody the artwork and general cause of local Amsterdam artist, Erwin Blaas. For the past six years Erwin, also known as E, has followed his passion of new media composition and digital art.

Before becoming an artist, E worked as a financial controller in an insurance company for over ten years. Through some life changing events, E’s mindset totally changed and he shifted his energy from fixed numbers into colorful creativity and started producing digital artwork masterpieces. According to his own words:

My intention is to create new artworks and sharing knowledge, visions and awareness through exhibitions and social media. ~ E

The gloomy Dutch autumn weather did not put a stop to the crowd of people who gathered in Amsterdam West to see what “DIGITAL ART AMSTERDAM” is all about.

The exhibit included eight colorful pieces created by E over the past five years. Half the pieces were a limited group of E’s artwork printed on canvas while the remaining half were printed on aluminum with a liquid gloss coating.

Accompanying E’s artwork were several DJ sets by local Amsterdam DJ’s Hero de Janeiro  and [ P.A.R.K.E.R. ]. Towards the end of the evening, E himself joined the DJ by rapping to the beat.

While many enjoyed and admired E’s works of art, one guest was so impressed she decided to take a piece home with her. UNITED LOVE, the title of the sold art piece, was the crowd favorite and was a limited number of E’s digital artwork printed on HQ Metal*.

E plans on possibly continuing to organize events around his artwork with possibly more engaging events or one on one Meet The Artist sessions.
